Today there are various campaigns for raising awareness among women about this problem, because early diagnosis means a lot. The initial stage of breast cancer can be cured in more than 95% of the patients.

Some of the symptoms and signs that indicate breast cancer are:

Painful or painless lump in the chest;

Changing the size and shape of nipples;

Changes in the skin on the chest;

Secretion of the nipple (serous, purulent, lactic and bloody).

Systemic symptoms (due to the presence of metastases) may also occur: vomiting, nausea, bone pain, swelling, general weakness, and malaise.

If you notice a lump in the chest or any other change, go to the doctor’s office immediately.

As for other types of cancer, the exact causes of breast cancer are still unknown. However, there are certain risk groups of people who are at higher risk of this disease.

Sex. Women are at higher risk of breast cancer than men. Only 1% of cases of breast cancer bind to the male sex.

Age. The risk of breast cancer increases as the age increases. Women over the age of 60 are at higher risk than young women.

Family history. Women in whom a woman’s family member suffers or suffers from breast cancer have a higher risk of cancer.

Exposure to ionizing radiation. Exposure to a relatively high dose of ionizing radiation is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.

Obesity. Obesity increases the risk of breast cancer.

Menstruation at an early age. Women with early first menstrual periods are at higher risk of developing this disease.

Late menopause. In women whose menopause starts at the age of 55 years, the likelihood of breast cancer increases.

Alcohol. Regular alcohol consumption can be the cause of the increased risk of breast cancer.

First birth after 35 years of age. Women who have a first child over 35 years of age have a 40% higher risk of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the result of a complex combination of genetic factors and factors from the outer environment.

Regular medical controls are most effective for early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, thereby increasing the chances of successful treatment of the disease.

The review starts with a discussion about determining the symptoms present, the existence of past illnesses, a family history of breast cancer, the number of children, the menstrual cycle, and so on. Then the doctor with inspection and palpation can determine whether there are changes in the breast

If there are suspicions of irregularities, other diagnostic methods such as breast echogram or biopsy can be used.

The doctor specifies the treatment based on the type of breast cancer, the stage of the disease, the patient’s full health and preferences. Most women undergo surgery and additional treatment such as chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or radiation.
