Medical Imaging
Medical imaging is a method of taking pictures of organs, brain, soft tissues, blood vessels, bones, and the inside of the body to help doctors find and treat health problems. In modern medicine, imaging is a vital tool for diagnosing diseases, injuries, and other abnormalities of the body. The most common imaging exams are MRI, CT (Computer Tomography), PET-CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, etc…
Medical imaging helps in diagnosing illnesses and planning treatments. It also helps create a reference for what normal body structures and functions look like, so doctors can spot anything unusual. While taking pictures of removed organs and tissues is sometimes done for medical reasons, this is usually called pathology, not medical imaging.
