What is stress ECG?

Any action that causes overwhelmed mental or physical reaction that rise from the relative state of the body is called stress.

In any stress, the body secrete hormones designed to prepare the body changes that are required in coming up straining skeletal muscle, speeding up the heart rate, the frequency of breathing, provoke sweating and burning of energy supplies the organism. It is a normal physiological process.

In such a case, the heart is pumping more blood to improve the blood flow. The flow of blood goes through arteries, which surround the heart. If one of these arteries is narrowed, this will be shown on the ECG stress test recording. The aim of the stress ECG is to find narrowed or clogged arteries of the heart (whose untimely detection can cause a heart attack).

How is the ECG stress test made?

Stress test is actually a quick walk on the conveyor belt, and is performed on a test strip that automatically accelerates gradually. The patient moves rhythmically in keeping in touch with the test strip out its speed.

What is meant by negative stress ECG test?

In medicine, negative means no signs of disease, specifically negative stress test means no disease of the arteries of the heart.

The test can be done without special previous preparation but it is desirable to observe the following measures:

12 hours before the test do not to drink caffeine products (coffee, k. Circuits, etc.)
Do not smoke before the test
It is good to be well rested and sleep before the test
Do not apply lotions or creams on the chest before the test
We advise comfortable clothes and shoes

How long is diagnostic procedure during stress ECG test?

Depending on the sex and age of the patient workload in average it takes between 7 to 10 minutes, until the whole procedure including the preparation about 20 minutes or so.
